If you’re 50 or older and see no possible way you’ll be able to retire by 65 if at all, you’re in the right place.
If you’ve let money control you pretty much your whole adult life, you’re in the right place.
If you’ve lived your life doing all the ‘right’ things but feel you’ve missed out on your own passion and purpose, you’re in the right place.
Hi! Welcome!
I’m Julie, the owner and creator behind Financially Free after 50.
I started this blog because I completely love blogging and being able to share with others. I’m interested in living simply and debt-free and being able to spend my days fulfilling my passion and purpose.
Currently, I still work at my day job, middle school computer teacher. While I’ve been teaching 29 years, I’m behind on retirement as my husband and I don’t have high paying careers. As I mentioned, I’m a teacher; my husband is a social worker.
Our lower-paying careers plus the fact that we have not been wise financially means that we have been worried about being able to retire on time.
If teaching had been my long-time life plan, I may not be in such a hurry to retire. However, teaching was my fall-back plan, and so I now long for the day I can start working on what I want to do.
You see, I’d spent my life doing what was expected of me instead of following my own interests and felt I needed to continue doing that very thing.
After all, I never wanted to let anyone down.
About six years I began blogging, though. As I built my blog, wrote, and made connections with so many people, I knew I’d found what I loved to do.
My original blog, Loving Christ Ministries, changed my life in so many ways. Most of all, it gave me purpose, it made me realize what I’m passionate about, and it provided extra income which allowed me to change the trajectory of my family’s financial path.
I knew I wanted to start a blog that had the potential to help others like me. Many of us did all the ‘right’ things in our lives but missed out on living our passion.
Don’t get me wrong, though. The ‘right’ things have been good, and I’m thankful for the opportunities I’ve had as I’m sure you are.
However, I still look forward to spending my days on things that bring me the most joy.
Aren’t you?
How can I help you?
My goal is to:
**Encourage you to understand that it’s okay that you follow YOUR dreams.
**Motivate you to get started planning and setting goals.
**Help you learn to find joy in simple things.
**Share with you ways to save money, pay off debt, find your passion, and know your purpose.
I invite you to come along with me as we take a hold of our life, finances, goals, and dreams.
Our paths won’t be exactly the same; yours will look different than mine. But it’ll be the one that’s perfectly right for you!
